Putting in Work: U14 Boys Team Ontario
The Canada Basketball National Championships are just a couple days away on August 6–11 with the U15 and U17 Boys on the west coast in Kamloops, B.C. and the U15 and U17 Girls on the east coast in Fredericton. All four teams are strong contenders for the top spot at their respective tournaments; the U17 Boys won gold and the U17 Girls earned silver at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, and the U15 Boys and Girls finished first at Nationals last summer.
In addition to the four provincial teams that compete at Nationals, Ontario Basketball established U14 Boys and Girls development teams to support the Team Ontario program by preparing young players to compete at the provincial level.
The U14 Boys had multiple training camps this summer and competed in the Saint-Laurent Summer Tournament in Quebec on June 29 and 30. Team Ontario fared well at the tournament, playing up an age level with U15 teams and beating opponents by respectable margins, including an 81-point blowout.
