What certification do I need?
To see what certification you would need, please refer to the Coach Development Pathway. As per the OBA Rules and Regulations Manual, the coaching certification requirements for the different age groups and coaching roles are listed below:

What is my current certification status?
To see your current certification status, you can log into the Locker using your NCCP number and click on the “Certifications” tab.
OR Log on to gameplanbasketball.ca and click on the “view certification” button.
How do I register for a coaching clinic?
To register for an upcoming coaching clinic, you will need to have an NCCP # and a Game Plan – Basketball account. All clinic registrations are through gameplanbasketball.ca.
Where can I find upcoming coaching clinics?
Upcoming coaching clinics can be found listed under the Coach Training tab OR in Game Plan once you log in.
Can I coach without my certification?
Coaches who have not completed their correct coaching certifications within their first year of coaching will be subject to a $100 fine for not following the Ontario Basketball mandatory certifications.
First time coaches within the OBA system have a one-year grace period to obtain their appropriate certifications. If you are a first time coach, please fill out the First Year Coaching Exemption Smartsheet form to be approved for an exemption.
What happens if I am not a certified coach?
Ontario Basketball’s annual coaching certification checks occur in approximately February, prior to the Provincial Championships. Coaches who do not have the appropriate certifications by this time will be subject to a penalty, as per the Rules and Regulations Manual.
