Next Gen

Ontario Basketball (OBA) is excited to launch its Next Gen Program for Grade 5 (born 2015) and Grade 6 (born 2014) boys and girls. This program is designed to bring together the top student-athletes from across Ontario for an elite developmental experience, providing high-performance training over four dedicated sessions. The program focuses on skill development, basketball IQ, and athletic growth in line with the Learn-to-Train and Train-to-Train stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, allowing athletes to apply lessons in authentic game-like situations.

Athletes will benefit from expert coaching, structured skill sessions, competitive drills, and small-group feedback, all designed to challenge and elevate their abilities. This program also exposes participants to the Ontario Basketball High Performance Pathway, offering a direct link to provincial and national development opportunities.

This program provides a unique opportunity for Ontario’s top young athletes to train with the best, compete with the best, and develop into the next generation of basketball stars.

Deadline to apply for a coaching position through our Microsoft Form is Monday, August 25, 2026.

Next Gen Tryouts:

Tryouts will take place on September 12-13 in the Greater Toronto Area (exact location TBA), with a $55 tryout fee. Athletes will be assessed during the tryouts, and only the top players will be selected to participate in the program. Spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
Deadline for tryouts is Monday, August 31st.
