Update on U15 Girls – U19 Women’s Sanctioned Competition (August 26, 2021):

An early list of 2021-22 OBL weekend dates was published to the OBA website in July, which showed a merging of U15 with U16 Girls and U17 with U19 Women’s OBL into two age groups instead of the usual four.

After internal discussion and feedback from membership, Ontario Basketball has decided not to merge these age groups for the 2021-22 season. U15 Girls, U16 Girls, U17 Girls, and U19 Women’s club sanctioned competition will be offered separately as usual.

Ontario Basketball will continue to prioritize participation of girls and women in basketball through pandemic recovery and beyond. This move was not intended to be a barrier or impediment to participation in basketball for young women in these age categories.

A revised OBL weekend schedule will be posted to the OBA website here reflecting these changes shortly.
