Call for Applications – Seeking Head Coaches for 2024 Ontario Summer Development Program!
Ontario Basketball (OBA) is seeking 20 coaches interested in representing Ontario as the Head Coaches of the 2024 Regional OSDP Programs.
Note: We are seeking representation from 10 of the 12 regions. If 10 unique regional programs are not found, we may consider adding a second program in a region with significant interest. A Regional breakdown can be found at the end of this document.

Requirements
Head Coach must:
- Have the appropriate level of certification (e.g. U12 “Learn to Train” and U14 “Train to Train”).
- Be a member in good standing.
- Have access to a facility/gym in order to provide 30 hours of training.
- Have a minimum of 15 athletes participating in your regional program.
- Select 10 athletes from your regional program that can commit to the Final Tournament.
The successful coach must also be:
- Knowledgeable of and practicing the principles of Canadian Sport for Life.
- A strong and open communicator who is organized with scheduling.
- Connected to the current basketball environment in Ontario.
- Aligned with the goals of Ontario Basketball.
Responsibilities
- Promoting the regional program in your area to attract participants by using your network.
Note: Ontario Basketball will post your regional program information on our website and provide an email blast to all potential participants in the area. - Coordinating 30 hours of gym time for regional training within the time frame allotted by OBA (i.e. before your respective Final Tournament)
***Note: OBA will cover up to $1,000.00 worth of gym time for the training. - Delivering 30 hours of regional training (with the support of an Assistant Coach).
- Engaging your Assistant Coach and Volunteer Coach during training sessions.
- Communicating with the parents of the athletes in your regional program.
- Attending the program culminating event : Final Tournament in the GTA.
- Coordinating travel/accommodations/meals as necessary for your team to attend and participate in the Final Tournament.
- Supervising the athletes at all times during the Final Tournament.
- Submitting all requested information and end of program financial compensation documents to OBA by a specified date.
Compensation:
- Meaningful experience that can be put towards a Coaching Resume.
- Honorarium and financial compensation for travel (mileage one-way to both: Coaches’ Meeting and Camp).
- U12 & U14 Head Coaches receive an honorarium of $400 ($200 will be for the training hours; $200 will be for the Final Tournament)
- Ontario Basketball gear package (to be distributed at the Final Tournament)
