OBA’s Centre for Performance to return for 2022-23, in collab with OUA programs & PRO ATHLETE app

Ontario Basketball’s regional training & development program, the Centre for Performance, is back and better than ever for 2022-23. This year, Ontario Basketball will partner with fifteen men’s and women’s OUA basketball programs to help deliver CP programming for three age categories: U10 – U12, U13 – U14, and U15 – U19.

The Centre for Performance program will consist of 5 three-hour training sessions (15 hours total) per age category, to be held once a month from October to February – Dates and times for each university partner’s pod thus far can be found here. The cost for the program will be $400 per player. All CP athletes will be provided with a t-shirt, reversible jersey, and a subscription to the PRO ATHLETE app – See below for more info about PRO ATHLETE.

Spots are limited per each regional pod, so we encourage interested athletes to register as soon as possible. There may be a waitlist for certain regional pods. Some pods may require tryouts.

Ontario Basketball is excited to partner with PRO ATHLETE. Through the Centre for Performance program, PRO ATHLETE will deliver age-specific strength & conditioning programming to CP athletes off the court through the PRO ATHLETE app.

The PRO ATHLETE app was created for basketball coaches and athletes and offers the necessary resources to prevent injuries and improve performance. It contains a variety of basketball-specific warm-ups, prehab and strength training programs, and much more.

With the app for basketball athletes, you can:

  • Improve your performance with an 11-month, in-season and off-season strength training program (1 month off to recover). The program is specifically designed for basketball athletes and aims to improve strength, power and reduce injuries.
  • Prevent injuries and improve recovery with a variety of prehab (preventive) and exercise programs.

With the app for basketball coaches, you can:

  • Take your athletes through a great warm-up, every single day, including specific exercises that target the most frequent injuries in basketball.
  • Lead your athletes through prehab and bodyweight strength programs with little to no equipment.

The app also contains a long list of exercises (jumping and landing, ankle proprioception, strength, mobility…), is updated regularly with new content and has lots of other features. We want athletes to be able to live long, healthy and successful careers without the short- and long-term consequences of injuries like ACL tears, ankle sprains and other frequent injuries in basketball.
