Call for Basketball Organizations to Share Phase 3 Guidelines on their Channels

Thank you to all the club presidents and administrators for your continued patience while we navigate the difficulties we all face in bringing basketball back to our courts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ontario Basketball would also like to recognize the diligence of our clubs in following our Return to Play Guidelines and helping to keep our basketball community safe while active.

As a further method of communication we are asking that all basketball organizations please share our Return to Play: Phase 3 messaging on your own club websites and communicate across your social media channels. You may use save and use the image from our website if you require a media file for your communication. We need your help in disseminating the message so basketball players at all levels are aware of current government guidelines designed to keep us safe.

These guidelines are a direct interpretation of the current government guidelines in Ontario and as the sport governing body for our province we feel it is our duty to ensure all basketball organizations both within and outside the OBA club membership have access to the latest health protocols in a way that they can understand and access.

Please feel free to craft your own message for your club’s website but included here is a sample text for you to post;

Ontario Basketball is currently in Phase 3 of its Return to Play Guidelines, part of a multi-phased approach to safely resuming basketball activities at all levels of play.

We are closely following OBA’s updates to track the ongoing measures by the Ontario government and medical health authorities as they relate to basketball.

In Phase 3, teams are allowed to conduct non-contact practice indoors (see OBA’s 2020-21 Drill Book) subject to local gathering limits in your region, but no competition is being sanctioned at this time.

For further resources and instructions please review the Return to Play Guidelines on –

We appreciate your cooperation to share this important messaging through your club’s website and social media and we hope to see you on the court soon,

Ontario Basketball staff
