Announcing 2020 Team Ontario Coaching Staff

Ontario Basketball (OBA) is pleased to announce the appointment of the following assistant and apprentice coaches who will round out previously announced Team Ontario coaching staff for the 2020 season.

Head Coach: Michael Selliah

Assistant Coach: Jeremie Kayeye (Mississauga, ON)

Kayeye has previously coached with U15 Boys Team Ontario. He was also a Development Coach with Canada Basketball senior men’s national team.  Kayeye is currently the Head Coach & Director of Basketball Operations at TRC Academy.

Assistant Coach: Kevin Barnes (London, ON)

Barnes served as the lead assistant coach with Team Ontario U17 Boys, and assistant coach with U17 Boys. He has also coached with OBA’s high performance program, Centre for Performance – London pod and has served as Director and Head Coach at Southwest Basketball Academy (OSBA).

Assistant Coach: Bob Messam (Oshawa, ON)

In 2019, Messam served as an apprentice coach with the U15 Boys Team Ontario. He also coaches with OBA’s Centre for Performance, currently leading the Durham boys’ pod. Messam coached with Canada Basketball Junior Academy and is serving as a coach with UPLAY.

Assistant Coach: Davidson Sanelus (Orleans, ON)

Sanelus brings nine years of coaching experience to the role with Canada Basketball Junior Academy program and OBA’s Centre for Performance program. He is currently an assistant coach with the Carleton Ravens men’s basketball program and the head coach of Ottawa Elite U15 Boys (CYBL).

Assistant Coach: Deluxshan Pathmanathan (Ajax, ON)

Pathmanathan served as head coach of the U13 Boys Team Ontario in 2019 and assistant coach with U14 Boys Team Ontario in 2018. He also coaches OBA’s Centre for Performance – Durham boys’ pod, Ontario Summer Development Program, and Canada Basketball Junior Academy. Pathmanathan is currently an assistant coach with Ontario Tech University’s basketball program.

Assistant Coach: Mike Simonetta Jr (Toronto, ON)

Simonetta was an assistant coach with Team Ontario U14 Boys in 2019. He has also coach with OBA’s Centre for Performance – Windsor region. Simonetta currently serves as Basketball Operations Director with the Northern Kings AAU basketball program. He was a finalist for the Toronto Raptors Wayne Embry Fellowship in 2019.

Assistant Coach: Paul Coley (Brampton, ON)

Coley coached for Centre for Performance – Peel Region, and coached at OBA’s Ontario Summer Development Program. He is also coaching with Canada Basketball’s Junior Academy. He is currently the head Coach U11 Boys & assistant coach U13 Boys with The Performance Group (TPG).

Assistant Coach: Jason Brade (Montreal, QC) 

Brade is currently coaching with Jr. NBA Youth Basketball, Canada Basketball Junior Academy, and OBA’s Centre for Performance. He has been coaching for the past nine years since his playing career ended. He previously played college basketball in the NCAA (George Washington University) and played pro basketball in France and the United States, representing Team Canada in 1997 & 1998.

Assistant Coach: Dwayne Ramage (Malton, ON)

Ramage is currently coaching with OBA’s high performance stream in the Centre for Performance, Toronto Region pod, and also coaches with Nike Bounce EYBL and Martingrove CI. He has also served as a coach with Canada Basketball’s Junior Academy.

Head Coach: Greg Hamilton (Brampton, ON)

Hamilton previously won a gold medal with Team Ontario U15 Boys in 2015. He also coaches within OBA’s men’s high performance program, which includes Centre for Performance, Targeted Athlete Strategy as well as Ontario Summer Development Program. Hamilton has also served as a coach with Canada Basketball’s Junior Academy. He is currently a coach with both Nike Bounce and Centennial College.

Assistant Coach: Mark Francis (Cambridge, ON)

Francis is currently a coach with OBA’s Centre for Performance – Kitchener boys pod, Canada Basketball’s Junior Academy and MLSE’s community division. He also served as a coach with OBA’s Ontario Summer Development Program from 2016 to 2018. He has coached club basketball with the KW Vipers since 2015.

Assistant Coach: Chris Mathew (Hamilton, ON)

Mathew has served as a coach with Centre for Performance – Tri-County Region since 2018, and Ontario Summer Development Program since 2014 – including coaching at Ontario Summer Games in 2014. He has also coached club basketball with the KW Vipers U14 Boys team for the past five years.

Assistant Coach: Adil Khaja (Vaughan, ON)

Khaja is the current head coach with OBA’s high performance program, Centre for Performance – York Region. He also served as a coach with Canada Basketball’s Junior Academy, and has been a part of Ontario Summer Development Program. Khaja has also been the head coach of the Vaughan Panthers U15 Boys for the past five years.

Assistant Coach: Drew Smillie (Hamilton, ON)

Smillie is currently the lead assistant coach with Lincoln Prep Basketball Academy in the OSBA. He also coaches Hamilton Transway JUEL and has been a coach with OBA’s Centre for Performance – Hamilton girls pod since 2018. He’s also been a coach with the Stoney Creek Storm since 2011, and also coached the junior and senior girls’ teams at Saltfleet District High School.

Assistant Coach: Michelle Abella (Ottawa, ON)

Abella has been an assistant coach with Team Ontario Girls since 2016 and was with OBA’s Ontario Summer Development Program at Georgian College in 2019. She is currently in her first season as an assistant coach with Carleton University’s women’s basketball program after having been an assistant coach with Mohawk College women’s basketball program since 2015. She also served as a Blessed Sacrament JUEL and JUEL Prep coach from 2015 to 2019.

Head Coach: Lexie Sananes

Assistant Coach: Jody Brown (Kitchener, ON)

Brown has worked with U15 Girls Team Ontario since 2018 and is currently an assistant coach with the Wilfrid Laurier men’s basketball program. He has coached with the KW Vipers rep basketball programs (various ages) in some capacity since 2012. Has also coached at Ontario Summer Development Program since 2014 & at Ontario Summer Games in 2016 & 2018. He is currently the head coach of OBA’s Centre for Performance – Kitchener girls’ pod. Brown is also the coach of the junior and senior basketball teams at St. Mary’s High School.

Assistant Coach: Wumi Agunbiade (Pickering, ON)

Agunbiade played four years in the NCAA with Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She then played in European leagues for several years after this. She then returned to Pittsburgh to become a graduate assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh, where she stayed for two seasons. In August 2019, Agunbiade returned to Canada and was hired as a mentee coach with Raptors 905 for 2019-20 season.

Head Coach: Madeline Belding

Assistant Coach: Rachel van Woezik (North Bay, ON)

Van Woezik has served as a coach with OBA’s Ontario Summer Development Program North Girls and coached club basketball with the North Bay Spartans in 2015 & 2016. Van Woezik is pursuing her MSc in Kinesiology at Nipissing while coaching with the school and is currently an assistant coach with the Nipissing Lakers women’s basketball program, a position which she has held since 2017.

Assistant Coach: Mikaela Dodig (Bolton, ON)

Dodig competed for Team Ontario U17 Girls at National Championships in Edmonton, AB in 2015 where she was named a Second Team All-Star in the tournament and helped Ontario to a gold medal. In 2016, she attended FIBA U18 Americas Championship with the Junior Women’s National Team. She is currently in her fourth year of playing with the University of New Brunswick women’s basketball program where she has also gained experience coaching with Basketball New Brunswick’s provincial team.


Team Ontario squads will participate in the Canada Basketball 15U & 17U National Championships: Ontario will host the Men’s National Championships at Queen’s University in Kingston, while Women’s National Championships will be hosted in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
