Reporting to the Manager, High Performance, Ontario Basketball is looking to employ a Coordinator, Women’s High Performance with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. The coordinator is expected to be a conceptual thinker with fantastic organizational and time management skills. You will have excellent administrative skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. To ensure success, the successful candidate should display strong problem solving and decision-making skills with a deep understanding of team and league operations in a basketball environment.

Overview
Ontario Basketball is the sport governing body for basketball in the province of Ontario. Ontario Basketball was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1977, but its history dates back to over 80 years ago. Ontario Basketball represents amateur basketball interests in the province and oversees basketball development through the provision of programs and services aimed at meeting the needs of the evolving provincial, national and global basketball landscape. PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Help to plan, coordinate, and execute leagues, events, and programs within the women’s high-performance program.
  • Help to oversee the high-performance internship program. Recruit, hire, train and manage the high-performance intern each quarter.
  • Help to coordinate all aspects of the administrative functions pertaining to the women’s Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA), Development League (D-League), Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS), and Team Ontario (TO), Centre for Performance (CP), and Ontario Summer Development Program (OSDP), including the management of athlete and coach information.
  • Help with the development and improvement of all women’s high performance program related templates used within the OSBA, D-League, TAS, TO, CP, OSDP, and other program components. Ensure that these templates are easily accessible, user-friendly, and kept up to date at all times.
  • Help to coordinate all aspects of women’s high-performance leagues (showcase events, regular seasons, championships), including but not limited to. Securing facilities, schedule creation, managing and guiding team registration and eligibility, website management (season set-up with teams, rosters, schedules), game video exchange, results, and stats reporting, coordinating apparel, equipment, and all on-site duties related to running an event, as well as communicating necessary information to the Marketing and Communications department and support staff.
  • Help to coordinate all aspects of women’s development training programming (tryout camps, training camps, and competitions), including but not limited to. Securing facilities, coordinating travel, coordinating apparel, equipment, and supplies distribution, collecting information from athletes, and all on-site duties related to running a training and tryout camp, as well as communicating necessary information to the Marketing and Communications department and team support staff.
  • Help to coordinate women’s high performance program equipment, apparel, footwear, and supplies, including ordering, distribution, inventory, and ensuring necessary quantities are in stock, packaged, and easy to locate.
  • Coordinate the development of a women’s provincial team operations manual, keeping all templates up to date.
  • Coordinate all women’s high-performance meetings and conference calls.
  • Support the activities of the Manager, High Performance and Senior Director, High Performance in ensuring that all women’s stakeholders and staff are advised of and adhere to the established association and program policies and procedures.
  • Act as the primary informational contact for the women’s high-performance programs in the absence of the Manager, High Performance.
  • Act as a resource to the basketball and sport community for information on the details of the women’s high-performance programs in general.

Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management or related (required).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in basketball operations or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to effectively communicate and interact with all individuals with integrity, empathy, and sincerity.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools.
  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
