Job Opportunity with Ontario Basketball: Coordinator, High Performance

Ontario Basketball requires an enthusiastic, energetic person who loves the game of basketball and would like to assist in the growth of the sport at the provincial level.

The successful candidate will be involved in the development of high-performance programs; specifically, Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA), Centre for Performance (CP), Team Ontario, Quest for Gold (Q4G) and Targeted Athlete Strategy (TAS).

The Coordinator, High Performance is a full-time contract position. They will report to the Manager, High Performance and Director, Basketball Development and work closely with Ontario Basketball’s professional staff.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with various stakeholders to develop, implement and oversee the administrative logistics of high-performance competitive leagues (e.g. OSBA, OSBA Jr. Series & OSBA Challenge Series)
  • On-site event management of high-performance programs (e.g. Centre for Performance (CP) Centralized, OSBA Game of the Week, Jr. Series, Challenge Series, etc.).
  • Registration database and league website management (e.g. OSBA league statistics, etc.)
  • Prepare and manage all cheque requisitions related to leagues and basketball development programs.
  • Manage the administrative logistics for facility bookings, apparel and assisting with the coordination of all training camps for Team Ontario, CP and TAS.
  • Perform other related administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Establish working relationships and collaborative arrangements with coaches, parents, student-athletes and Canada Basketball to help achieve the goals of the high-performance vision.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A university degree or college diploma in sport administration/management, or experience in a sport or sport related background.
  • Thorough understanding of CS4L / Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) model and National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work independently, maintain tight schedules and flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) in a dynamic and service-oriented team environment.
  • Exceptional organization and interpersonal skills to meet critical deadlines.
  • An understanding of non-profit provincial sport organizations.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:  Temporary contact position making $15 per hour until August 31st, 2019 with the possibility of extension based on fiscal 2019-2020 budget planning.  In addition, a gym membership and complimentary parking will be provided.
