Nine Ontario Athletes Selected to U17 Men’s National Team
Canada Basketball announced the 12 athletes who will represent the U17 Men’s National Team at the upcoming FIBA U17 Men’s Basketball World Cup 2018 in Argentina from June 30 to July 8, 2018.
Of the 13 Ontario athletes invited to training camp earlier this month, nine have been named to the team’s final roster.
In addition, six of the 12 athletes selected have played in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA), five of whom are from Ontario.
Among the six OSBA representatives are Charles Bediako and Addison Patterson, who join the U17 National Team after helping Canada capture a silver medal at this month’s FIBA U18 Men’s Americas Championship in St. Catharines.

Ontario Basketball is also represented on the team’s coaching staff with Men’s Technical Lead Jason Dawkins named as an assistant coach.
Canada sits alongside Egypt, Montenegro and New Zealand in Group C and will begin group play on June 30 against Montenegro.
Canada is currently ranked second in the FIBA Men’s Youth Rankings.
