Team Toronto Crowned Champions at 3×3 Canada Quest Men’s National Finals

Team Toronto (Alex Johnson, Shaquille Keith, Tramar Sutherland and Marlo Davis) took home the 2018 3×3 Canada Quest Men’s national title on July 7 in Edmonton, defeating Team Winnipeg 21-14 in the championship game.

The Torontonians finished the tournament with a 5-1 record.  The team’s lone defeat came at the hands of Team Montreal, 21-16, during the opening day of competition on July 6.

The eight participating teams earned a berth in the National Finals after winning their respective regional qualifiers.

In addition to Team Toronto, Ontario was represented by Team Hamilton (Sean Van Koughnett, Keenan Jeppesen and Vadim Halimov), who went 0-4 and did not advance beyond the group stage. Last summer, Team Hamilton had a bronze-medal finish at the Canada Quest Finals.

With the victory, Team Toronto secured its berth in the FIBA 3×3 Men’s World Tour Qualifier, taking place July 21–22 in Saskatoon. The event marks the beginning of the World Tour season and will feature 12 teams from around the world. The winner in Saskatoon will earn a trip to China to compete in the FIBA 3×3 Men’s World Tour Final in October.
