Summer Job Opportunity: Lead Coach for Etobicoke Basketball Program
Ontario Basketball member club, Etobicoke Basketball Association, is seeking a Lead Coach to coordinate and deliver their Believe-Train-Perform (BTP) program. BTP is a player development program for motivated athletes entering grades 3–12. The program offers unique off-season development training in five different age-specific and targeted training pods, which take place during the evening from July to mid-August. Each session provides basketball skill development and fitness/conditioning training.
The successful candidate will report to the Board of Directors and work in conjunction with the association’s Business Manager.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the advertising of the program;
- Assist with the participant registration process;
- Hire, train, monitor, and evaluate program coaches;
- Prepare weekly programming plans;
- Oversee the activities of each session;
- Address participant issues; and
- Any other duties required to deliver a fun, safe, and educational player experience.
The ideal candidate must:
- Have strong administrative skills;
- Have experience in human resources management;
- Be an experienced basketball trainer, preferably with athletes ranging in age from 8–18;
- Possess NCCP Train to Train certification (Train to Compete certification is preferred);
- Must possess strong knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of basketball;
- Possess effective communication and motivational skills;
- Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, parents, and participants; and
- Be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Commitment Required: Training sessions are scheduled from July 3 to August 10 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.
