Ontario Player of the Week April 2 – April 8

This week’s Ontario Player of the Week selection is awarded to Scarborough-native and Raptors 905 guard Aaron Best, for scoring a team-high 23 points to lead his Raptors 905 over the Erie BayHawks and into the G-League Championship series for the second consecutive season.

He was an integral member of the 2009 and 2010 U17 Ontario provincial teams. He was ranked as the number nine small forward prospect in Canada by Northpolehoops.com in 2011 on his way to committing to Ryerson University for the 2011 season.

Best was named the OUA Male Rookie of the Year in 2011 along with earning OUA East all-rookie honours after he averaged just under 13 points per game in 16 conference games. Best entered the NBA Draft in 2016, however ended up going undrafted. Best ended up signing as an undrafted free-agent with the defending champion Raptors 905, the G-League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors. Through the 2017-18 season he has continued to develop his game as he has become a permanent starter in the rotation for head coach Jerry Stackhouse.

The Raptors 905 have already begun the G-League Championship series, as they head into Game 2 on April 10 at home after losing Game 1 105-93 to the Austin Spurs.
