Ontario Basketball welcomes Maria Suriani

Ontario Basketball is pleased to welcome the addition of Maria Suriani in the role of Coordinator, Special Projects.

Beginning October 23, Maria will be assisting with administration, coach development workshops and certification, assisting with community programs including OSDP, strategy for OBA gear sales, and event coordination.

In her previous position with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Maria was the Manager, Retail Operations. She was responsible for coordinating all aspects of the retail department from shipping and receiving to the launch of a new online store to opening a stadium and the execution of 10 game day kiosks, a Flagship and Mall store. She has previously worked with the Mississauga Steelheads, Basketball World Toronto, as well as the Humber College Athletic staff.

A five-year guard and captain of the Humber varsity women’s team, Maria certainly knows basketball. During her time with the Hawks, the team made the playoffs every season and won a provincial bronze medal during her senior year.

“I’m most excited to help facilitate programs that nurtured my love for basketball and continue to do the same for others,” said Maria. “I’m excited to take this next step in my career and join the OBA – an association I’ve been part of as either a player or a coach since I was 8 years old.”

We welcome her addition at a time of unprecedented growth for the sport of basketball as well as our organization.
