Ontario Basketball welcomes Georgia Risnita as interim OCAA Officials Facilitator

Ontario Basketball (OBA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Georgia Risnita as interim OCAA Facilitator for the 2022-23 basketball season.

Georgia will be responsible for assisting in the oversight and management of the officials for the sport of basketball within the OCAA including carrying out official’s evaluations, mentoring, and officials development opportunities.  Georgia will also assist in the assignment process with the Ontario Association of Basketball Officials (OABO) local boards.

The OCAA Officials Facilitator will also ensure the application of the FIBA rules are understood and applied across all games in the OCAA. They are also responsible for the circulation of FIBA rule updates and points of emphasis to coaches, assign league games, and participate in the evaluation of officials.

Georgia comes to the OBA & OCAA role with an extensive basketball background as an elite level player, coach and official.   As an official, Georgia has worked at the highest level, including both National and Provincial championships in CCAA and USports competitions. Before joining the OBA & OCAA, Georgia worked as Provincial Supervisor for OABO. She continues to work with coaches and referees across the country as a National Referee Coach and a Master Learning Facilitator for coaches at Canada Basketball.
