Ontario Basketball Technical Director Program – Now accepting applications!

Ontario Basketball is pleased to announce the addition of a Technical Director program that will be implemented within all clubs across the province for the 2022-2023 season.

The program has been created in an effort to provide more resources and technical support to clubs, along with aligning to the guidelines of the new Ontario Not-For Profit Corporations Act. Everything will run through Ontario Basketball and a group of hired regional Technical Directors with the goal of supporting all clubs across the province.

In preparation, Ontario Basketball is assembling a Grassroots Development Team of experts at each level (Learn to Train, Train to Train, Train to Compete) to develop resources that are centered around fundamental technical skills.

The program will offer Professional Development for Club Technical Directors to learn principles of the game, gain more knowledge on strategies and tactics and age and stage appropriate development. Ontario Basketball will require all Club TDs to hit a minimum standard, be trained through their Regional Director and be registered with the club at the start of the 2022-2023 season.

In support of the program, Ontario Basketball will be hiring a Technical Director in each of the 13 regions listed below who will be the point of contact for clubs in their regions and act as a liaison of Ontario Basketball when out in the community and working with clubs. The Regional Technical Directors will be vetted and trained by Ontario Basketball and take part in development sessions throughout their tenure. Those interested in becoming a Technical Director in their region should review the job description found here, and submit their application to: Kauri LaFontaine (klafontaine@basketball.on.ca) citing the job title and region they are applying for (Example: Jane Smith, Central East). Application deadline is July 29th, 2022.
