Ontario Basketball Announces New Leadership Roles for Officiating
Ontario Basketball is excited to announce key appointments aimed at strengthening its officiating programs for the upcoming season. These include the appointments of three respected officials to key assignor roles, as well as the selection of Mike Falloon as the new Coordinator of Officiating Development.
Bobby Adore has been appointed as the new Officials Assignor for the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA). With nearly two decades of experience, Bobby has significantly contributed to officiating at various levels, including OUA, OCAA, and OSBA. A certified NOCP Level 3 official, Bobby has played an active role with the Canadian Basketball Officials Commission (CBOC), leading initiatives as interim Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and serving on the National Tournament Selection & Evaluation Committee. His commitment to the growth and development of officials, both on and off the court, is evident through his work as a provincial observer and evaluation team member. Bobby’s strong understanding of the game, combined with his expertise in conflict resolution and critical analysis, positions him well to lead OSBA officiating assignments.
Farhan Baig has been appointed as the Officials Assignor for the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). With over two decades of experience, Farhan is a respected figure in the basketball officiating community. He has officiated at provincial and national levels, including multiple U Sports and CCAA Championships. A certified NOCP Level 4 official, Farhan also served as OSBA assignor, playing a key role in improving officiating standards through technology, timely feedback, and game analysis. His passion and dedication to the sport make him a great choice to lead OCAA officiating assignments.
Dave Maxin returns as the Officials Assignor for Ontario University Athletics (OUA), bringing over 26 years of extensive experience. He has officiated at the highest levels, including U Sports National Championships, the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC), and the Basketball Super League (BSL). A certified NOCP Level 4 official and National Referee Coach, Dave has been instrumental in developing officiating programs across Ontario. His mentorship and guidance to new and seasoned officials, along with his dedication to equity, diversity, and inclusion, position him to continue leading OUA officiating with integrity and excellence.
Mike Falloon has been appointed as Coordinator of Officiating Development for Ontario Basketball. In this role, Mike will support and enhance the officiating infrastructure across the province. His responsibilities include assisting with OUA and OCAA agreements, managing Officials Assignors, and overseeing the scheduling and evaluation of officials. Mike will also help develop long-term officiating strategies that align with CBOC and FIBA standards. His experience and commitment to advancing officiating standards make him a valuable asset to the team.
