New “Coaching Athletes with a Disability” NCCP Module Released

The Coaching Association of Canada recently released a new National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) eLearning module, Coaching Athletes with a Disability.

The course is designed to provide coaches with knowledge to deliver quality, positive sport experiences for athletes, specifically those with behavioural, intellectual, physical, and sensory disabilities.

The training will provide coaches with the ability to:

  • Explain the benefits of sport participation for persons with a disability;
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with, and regards to, persons with a disability;
  • Design positive, safe, and inclusive sport experiences for persons with a disability; and
  • Consider next steps in their professional development related to coaching persons with a disability.

To celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, the NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability module is available for free throughout 2017!

As of January 1, 2018, the training will cost $15.
