The Markham Pan Am Centre is offering a free workshop called Governance & Your Board on Tuesday, June 18 from 6:30–9:30 p.m.
Effective Boards create sport organizations that are well-planned, financially healthy and have productive staff and volunteers.
But what does a good Board look like and how do you get there?
Register now to learn the fundamentals of good governance and understand the roles of the Board of Directors, staff and other volunteers.
Workshop topics include:
- Where do Boards of Directors go wrong and why?
- Where does Board responsibility stop and executive responsibility start?
- How do you run an effective Board meeting?
- How does the Board oversee rather than ‘do’?
During the workshop, you’ll learn from expert facilitator Paul Varian and his experience as President of Oakville Soccer Club, the largest amateur soccer club in North America and largest community sport organization in Canada, as well as his experience working with various sport organizations through his company, Capitis Consulting.
Paul uses real-world sport organization examples and harnesses the opinions and experiences of attendees to make this workshop more than a boring, MBA-style governance lecture!
