Know Your U14 Girls Championship Host!

The OBA Championships are here and many regions around Ontario have graciously agreed to host the Ontario Cup in their area. In this series, we will highlight details about the community and the many things to do there during your stay in the region.

York Region/City of Markham

With an overall population of over 1.1 million residents, this year’s U14 Ontario Cup championships will be played in the York Region. Many of the games will be competed in gymnasiums at the City of Markham with a few games hosted in other parts of the region in Vaughan and Whitchurch-Stouffville. The City of Oshawa will also host games at Playground Durham.

There are over ten affiliated Ontario Basketball clubs across York Region with Markham Unionville Minor Basketball Association (MUMBA) being the main affiliated club hosting this year’s U14 Girls Ontario Cup. York Region and the City of Markham is committed to supporting affiliated clubs in a return to play and competition. Their last time hosting an Ontario Cup came in 2017 when they hosted the U17 Boys championships.

With MUMBA being the main club affiliate for the City of Markham, both the club and city hopes to stimulate and support our young future leaders and local businesses. MUMBA is always looking to develop sustainable partnerships in its community and respective industry.
