Job Opportunity: Executive Director of Newfoundland & Labrador Basketball Association
The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) is now accepting applications for the full-time position of Executive Director.
The Candidate:
As Executive Director, you are responsible for the effective and efficient management of the association’s activities and resources in accordance with direction provided by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director, in this capacity, shall work with the Board of Directors in the development, review and implementation of association policy and have an understanding of the provincial and national basketball scene. The candidate should be a high energy individual capable of multi-tasking, possess good organizational skills along with financial and staff management abilities. The individual must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage extremely busy day-to-day operations of the organization. An understanding of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model is crucial. Computer skills would include knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Simply Accounting. Social media and website management abilities would also be an asset.
Qualifications:
- A related university or college degree or related experience in sports administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An understanding of the sport of basketball in the provincial and national sport environment.
- An in-depth knowledge of the NCCP, LTAD, Steve Nash Youth Basketball and Jr. NBA programs.
- Willingness to work extra hours as required to complete tasks and available to work week nights, weekends and holidays as required.
- Travel will be required both provincially and nationally on occasion.
- A valid driver’s license and a Vulnerable Sector/Code of Conduct Certificate required.
Salary: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
