Free “Keeping Girls in Sport” online training

Keeping Girls in Sport is a new e-module that addresses how to create safe and respectful environments for girls to participate in sport and physical activity.

The course focuses on retaining girls in sport because studies have repeatedly shown that girls drop out of sport during adolescence at a significantly higher rate than boys; 41 per cent of girls between the ages of 3 and 17 do not participate in sport, and as girls enter adolescence, their overall participation rate drops by 22 per cent. As a result, girls are missing out on the multitude of physical, psychological and social benefits of being physically active.

Developed by Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities in partnership with the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) and the Coaching Association of Canada, the training is designed for coaches, program leaders, parents and others in the sport and physical activity system.

Register for free using code KGIS-E7P3W2Z until Sunday, October 14, 2018 at midnight.

Even if you miss the opportunity to take the course for free, registering for the e-module will make a direct impact on girls in sport. A portion of every registration fee will go to CAAWS to support their work towards equity and inclusion for girls and women in sport and to Jumpstart for their work in communities across Canada.
