College Men’s Basketball Head Coach Position Available at George Brown

George Brown College in Toronto is currently accepting applications for the part-time position of Head Coach of Varsity Men’s Basketball.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Athletics & Recreation and working closely with the Coordinator of Varsity Basketball, the head coach is responsible for duties associated with the program such as athlete recruitment, and developing implementing and evaluating the technical and tactical curriculum that prepares the student-athletes for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA). This is a part-time contract opportunity which requires evening, weekend, and periodic weekday daytime hours, depending on the competition schedule.

Necessary Qualifications

  • Must have demonstrated a previous high level of leadership and successful coaching performance
  • Minimum five (5) years of coaching experience, preferably high performance with student-athletes
  • Minimum certification: Certification as a NCCP Level 2 coach required; Level 3 preferred
  • Proven good relationships with high school and competitive club coaches for recruitment purposes
  • Excellent communication skills, motivational abilities, sound administrative skills and commitment to fair play
  • Minimum college diploma combined with directly relevant experience
