Seven Ontario Athletes Named to Canada’s Senior Women’s Roster for European Exhibition Tour
Canada Basketball has announced the 12 athletes selected to participate in a five-game European exhibition tour in Belgium (June 14-16) and the Great Britain (June 18-19).
Of the 17 athletes from Ontario invited to last week’s assessment camp in Edmonton, seven have been named to the final roster. The 17 athletes from Ontario invited to this year’s assessment camp is an improvement over last summer, where only 13 Ontario players were invited to the camp.
The five exhibition games are in preparation for a busy summer for Team Canada, which will see them compete at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru and the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019 in Puerto Rico.
At the 2019 Pan Am Games (August 6-10), Team Canada will look to defend their gold medal outing at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto. Similarly, Canada enters the 2019 FIBA AmeriCup tournament as two-time defending champions looking to make it three straight tournament victories when the tournament kicks off on September 22.
