16 Ontario athletes will attend Senior Men’s National Team FIBA Olympic Qualifying training camp

Canada Basketball has announced the list of players who have accepted their invites to training camp in preparation for the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers in June. Sixteen Ontario athletes are included on the roster:

Training camp will take place June 16th to 24th at the Toronto Raptors’ temporary practice facility in Tampa, FL. The senior men’s national team is coached by Raptors’ head coach Nick Nurse. Following camp, the team will then travel to Victoria, British Columbia for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, to be held June 29th to July 4th. Canada’s qualifying games will be broadcast on CBC and DAZN.

Canada will compete in Group A at the Olympic Qualifier alongside Greece and China. They’ll face Greece on June 29th at 7:05PM ET, and China on June 30th at 7:05PM ET. The winner of Group A will then play the winner of Group B (Uruguay, Czech Republic, Turkey) for a spot at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The senior men’s national team is looking to qualify for the Olympics for the first time since the Sydney 2000 games. Canada currently ranks 21st in the FIBA World Rankings.
