2017 Team Ontario U17 Boys Roster Announced

Roster for 2017 Team Ontario U17 Boys Announced

Ontario Basketball is pleased to announce the roster for the 2017 Team Ontario U17 Boys.

Twelve athletes were selected to the final roster with an additional three athletes listed as alternates. The final roster features seven returning players from the U17 team that won a silver medal last summer at Canada Basketball’s National Championships. The remaining five new faces joining the ranks make for an even balance of experience with a couple players getting their first taste of Team Ontario experience.

One of the most notable new additions is Wheza Panzo, who claimed MVP honours at the Basketball Without Borders All-Star Game among athletes from 16 countries across the Americas. Team Ontario also gets an added boost from FIBA U19 World Champ Emanuel Miller who is fresh off of winning Canada’s first-ever Gold medal at a FIBA international competition with the national team.

The U17 team will head to Winnipeg this summer to represent their province at the 2017 Canada Games along with fellow young athletes across 19 different sports from July 28 to August 13. They will look to reclaim gold after their silver medal loss to Nova Scotia in last years’ National Championships. Ontario’s team claimed gold four years ago at the last Canada Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
