Ontario Basketball to Host 2025 Canada Basketball 15U Men and Women’s National Championships

For the second consecutive year, Ontario Basketball is proud to welcome the nation to Ontario for the 2025 Canada Basketball 15U Men and Women’s National Championships. The event will take place from August 4 to August 9, 2025, hosted at Ontario Tech University and Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario.

The Canada Basketball National Championships represent the pinnacle of youth basketball in the country—Canada’s premier national amateur sporting event for high-performance basketball athletes. Each summer, the top 15U and 17U players from across the nation compete for national supremacy while proudly representing their respective provinces and territories. For these young athletes, the tournament is more than just a competition—it’s a stepping stone to future opportunities in collegiate, professional, and international basketball.

“We are excited for the return of the Canada Basketball 15U Men and Women’s National Championships to Ontario. We are thrilled to collaborate closely with Canada Basketball and Ontario Tech University and Durham College to orchestrate a successful national championship in our province. We are committed to innovation and ensuring a memorable experience for visiting teams and basketball fans alike.” – Claude Nembhard, Executive Director, Ontario Basketball

Last summer, Team Ontario achieved a historic sweep, capturing gold medals in all four divisions—15U and 17U Men’s and Women’s—marking the first time a province had done so since Quebec in 2019. That success was not only a testament to the strength of Ontario’s player development pipeline, but also a preview of the elite talent that will be on full display again this summer.

Over the years, the Canada Basketball National Championships have served as a launchpad for many of Canada’s top basketball stars. Alumni of the tournament include Bridget Carleton, RJ Barrett, Kia Nurse, Andrew Nembhard, Laeticia Amihere, Bennedict Mathurin, Aaliyah Edwards, and Cory Joseph—all of whom have gone on to represent Canada on the international stage and play professionally in the NBA and WNBA. Their journeys often began on this very stage.

While Ontario prepares to host the 15U divisions, the province’s 17U athletes will travel east to compete in the 2025 Canada Summer Games, taking place from August 8 to 25 in St. John’s, Newfoundland. This marks another major national platform for young Ontarians to showcase their skills and represent their province with pride.

Ontario Basketball looks forward to welcoming the Canadian basketball community to Oshawa this August for what promises to be a thrilling and inspiring week of competition. With elite talent, a passionate fan base, and world-class facilities, the 2025 15U National Championships are set to be a highlight of the summer.
