Job Opening: La Cité College Women’s Basketball Head Coach

Hourly rate: To be determined based on experience

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the basketball coordinator and the director of athletics, the candidate is responsible for managing the La Cité College women’s basketball team with the ultimate goal of preparing the team for the OCAA league for the 2027-28 season. They must ensure the supervision and safety of the student-athletes at all times during practices, games, tournaments, trips, and all other team activities.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Respect and implement the mandate and vision of the Coyotes basketball program at all times;
– Manage the team’s schedule (selection camps, practices, games, tournaments, events, etc.);
– Develop an intensive recruitment plan to attract the best Francophone players in preparation for the 2027-28 OCAA season;
– Apply disciplinary measures to student-athletes when necessary;
– Organize and manage fundraising events;
– Ensure the implementation of the team’s semi-annual player evaluations;
– Manage team travel according to established schedules/itineraries;
– Collaborate with the sports administration in selecting scholarship and award recipients for team players;
– Attend the Sports Gala (late March/early April) and present the team’s awards;
– Be present at all team practices, matches, tournaments, and other events;

* Schedules may be changed at any time without notice, so the candidate must be flexible regarding working hours.
– Develop the annual plan for all team activities (practices, matches, tournaments, etc.);
– Select and manage the assistant coaching staff according to the allocated budget;
– Perform any other tasks requested by the sports administration.

REQUIREMENTS
– Experience coaching at the competitive/elite level; 
– Experience planning practices, training sessions, and athlete development;
– NCCP certification – Willing to train for competition or be prepared to work towards this certification during the first season with the team;
– Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check;
– Strong communication and motivational skills with competitive athletes;
– Ability to work a flexible schedule regarding practices, travel, tournaments, and recruitment;
– Demonstrates autonomy and professionalism at all times;
