Fall Internship Opportunity with MLSE LaunchPad

MLSE LaunchPad is currently seeking a full-time intern for Fall 2018.

Position: MLSE LaunchPad Sport Programs and Partnerships Intern
Reports to: Coordinator of Partnerships, MLSE LaunchPad
Duration: September to December 2018

MLSE LaunchPad is the first facility of its kind in North America, built to provide sport and life skills programming for youth facing barriers living in the Greater Toronto Area. Equipped with multisport courts and classrooms, MLSE LaunchPad provides youth with access to a space where they can get moving, get inspired, and learn to recognize and reach their potential. Specific Duties

Partnerships and Outreach

  • Assist in supporting all community partners operating programming at MLSE LaunchPad and ensure they are set up for success
  • Help maintain and grow partner engagement, building and fostering relationships with service collaborative members and community partners
  • Support outreach and promotion in the community to ensure access for youth from MLSE LaunchPad community
  • Support MLSE LaunchPad and MLSE Foundation in donor recognition strategies and stewardship plans
  • Assist in digital and social media reach as well as donor and volunteer engagement
  • Assist with engagement opportunities for various partners in MLSE LaunchPad (e.g., community members, donors, MLSE staff)
  • Maintain an understanding of all new and on-going programs in order to speak knowledgeably and passionately about the work of MLSE LaunchPad and our programming partners to the community
  • Provide assistance with internal status reports, progress and outcomes of partnership activities

Sport Programming

  • Support all administrative aspects of sport programs, including program logistics, registration for camps and special events, and other related duties
  • Properly maintain program facility space, including sport equipment inventory and supplies
  • Assist with the delivery of sport programs that service specific community needs in a collaborative environment ensuring both youth development and research objectives are met
  • Assist in the development of new MLSE LaunchPad sport for development programming
  • Assist in the review and updating of existing MLSE LaunchPad program plans
  • Assist in the implementation of the organization’s strategy to deliver premier Sport for Development programs
  • Be a positive, kind, powerful ambassador for MLSE LaunchPad and Sport for Development

Operations & Research

  • Assist with program data collection and obtaining informed consent/assent
  • Maintain electronic document databases and incentive inventory spreadsheets
  • Connect with research participants to schedule appointments and deliver pre/post program evaluations
  • Assist with data input and analytics
  • Support other research and evaluation activities such as compilation of communications to participants and families, materials to translate knowledge to the sector, and other external messaging of research findings
  • Assist in the maintenance of the facilities registration system/program matrix that supports internal and external programs
  • Provide administrative and day-to-day support for MLSE LaunchPad staff

Requirements

  • Available for a minimum of 5 weekday shifts
  • Available during some weekends and evenings when required
  • Currently enrolled in a University or College program in a sports, recreation, fundraising, marketing, event planning or related field
  • Returning to school in January 2019
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills a requirement
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Able to exercise diplomacy and tact at all times, multitask and meet multiple deadlines

Additional Information

Please note that this is a full-time (5 days/week) unpaid position, however, the student hired for this position will receive a $150 weekly honorarium.
