Ontario Basketball Announces Team Ontario Head Coaches U15 Boys & Girls | U17 Men & Women

Team Ontario is proud to announce the appointment of four distinguished head coaches who will lead the U15 boys and girls, as well as the U17 men and women’s basketball teams at the Canada Basketball 15U & 17U National Championships from August 5th – August 10th, 2024.  St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador will host the U15/U17 women’s tournament and Toronto, Ontario will host the U15/U17 men’s tournament. These coaches bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and dedication to the development of young athletes in Ontario.

The appointed head coaches are as follows:

U15 Boys: Coach Yoosrie Salhia (Assistant Coach, Men’s Basketball University of Toronto)
U15 Girls: Coach Sarah Besselink (Lead Assistant Coach, Women’s Basketball, University of Ottawa)
U17 Men: Coach Tyrone Bramble (Head Coach, Boys Basketball, Crestwood Preparatory College)
U17 Women: Coach Christine Hyde (Associate Coach, Women’s Basketball, University of Waterloo)

Each coach brings a unique blend of coaching philosophy, technical proficiency, and a proven track record of success in nurturing talent and fostering a culture of excellence within their respective teams.

Coach Yoosrie Salhia, taking the helm for the U15 Boys, is renowned for his strategic approach to player development. With a history of molding young athletes into formidable competitors, Salhia aims to instill a winning mentality while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and skill development.

Coach Sarah Besselink, entrusted with coaching the U15 Girls, brings a wealth of experience from her tenure at both the high school and provincial levels. Besselink is committed to empowering young female athletes, fostering confidence, and building a supportive environment where players can thrive both on and off the court.

Stepping into the role of coaching the U17 Men is Coach Tyrone Bramble, a seasoned mentor known for his ability to cultivate talent and maximize player potential. Bramble’s coaching philosophy centres on discipline, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, setting the stage for the team’s success at the national level.

Coach Christine Hyde assumes leadership of the U17 Women, bringing a dynamic coaching style and a passion for developing the next generation of female basketball stars. Hyde’s focus on skill refinement, strategic execution, and mental toughness will be instrumental in guiding the team towards achieving their goals.
