Job Opportunity:Technical Director of Basketball

JCC Maccabi Warriors is looking for a dynamic individual that will be responsible for supporting the organization through management and business development activities. The successful candidate will be involved in communication via emails, managing staff and coordinating Development Academy and REP schedules under the guidance of the Manager and Executive Director.

Responsibilities of the coordinator will include but are not limited to:
• 1st and last week of session for house league (Trophy presentation and MVP for House League)
• Manage Staff and schedules
• attend 25 practices per season for each REP team
• additional coverage for absent coaches, hourly rate will be determined based on experience.
• OBL tournament games & provincial Cup
• Social Media, Game Tape
• attend any all rep/select tryouts
• chanukah skills comp
• staff training
• Manage, set up and speak during banquet
•  Train replacement
• Consultations and coaching evaluations
• Consult with management bi-weekly with program updates
• Train, recruit and manage volunteer high school students to participate (pump balls, assist)
• Basic First Aid Training
• Consult on tryout dates
• Consult on jersey style & gear
• Provide expertise in the analysis and provision of basketball curriculum with up to date information to support evidence-based decision making in the basketball system planning, policy and strategy decisions within Ontario.
• Working with coaching staff, when necessary, to identify and resolve issues pertaining to basketball leagues or development academy
• Monitor program expenditures, together with the Director of operations;
• Oversee and track staff training for all basketball staff;
• Oversee and track Ethics training for all basketball staff;
• Provide guidance and training for coaches on OBA requirements, certifications, etc.;
• Draft and update training materials, how-to documents, etc. for  J basketball;
• Draft and publish emails and social media posts with approval
• facilitate conversations with parents and navigate issues as they arise in a prompt manner
• Develop and build effective relationships with athletes and parents.
• Deliver presentations to athletes and parents.
• Use standard computer software to prepare reports, documents, analyses and other materials
• Foster close working relationships with head coaches and administrative staff at JCC;
• Clearly communicating competition eligibility, qualifications for OBA regulations
• Provide proposal development advice, and when necessary, coordinate with consultants regarding basketball development.

Skills and qualifications:

  • A university degree or college diploma in sport administration/management and/or communications and/or teaching degree
  • Experience in a sport or sport-related background is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency, including but not limited to familiarity with website management
  • Experience in grant applications and reporting
  • Be able to work independently, maintain tight schedules and flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) in a dynamic and service-oriented team environment
  • Be able to handle multiple tasks, people and prioritize appropriately in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to meet critical deadlines

Compensation:
 In addition to Schwartz/Reisman Fitness membership, and complimentary parking, a competitive salary will be commensurate with experience.
