12 Ontario Athletes Invited to Senior Women’s National Team Training Camp Ahead of 2019 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup
Canada Basketball has invited 16 athletes to attend the Senior Women’s National Team Training Camp ahead of the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019 in Puerto Rico. Among those 16 athletes are 12 players from Ontario, including seven Team Ontario alumni and three OSBA alumni.

The FIBA Women’s AmeriCup is the first stage in qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The tournament will be held in Puerto Rico from September 22 to 29.
Team Canada will play the round robin stage in Group A with the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico and tournament hosts Puerto Rico. Beyond the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, and that winner to the finals of the tournament against the eventual winner of Group B.
Training camp is on now through September 18 at the University of Alberta’s training facility in Edmonton. Team Canada will then head to Puerto Rico for their first group stage match versus Mexico on September 22. All games will be stream live on DAZN in Canada.
