Your motivation to join the OBA Board of Directors…

I would like to be a member of the Board to help influence and guide Ontario Basketball, as it leaves this especially troubling time and also to help address certain inequalities and issues I have seen growing within the basketball community over the past 20 years.  I think it is important to have a variety of viewpoints when determining policies and plans, and I believe I can offer a unique perspective to the Board.

I see basketball as continuing to grow in the upcoming years, and the need to grow all levels of basketball in the province – recreational, competitive and elite – to be a focus of the Ontario Basketball community.  Without a strong infrastructure, I think that basketball across the province and country will not develop as successfully as we want it to, and it is looking at these gaps, especially in large cities like Toronto, that I can help guide basketball in the Province.

Your motivation to join the OBA Board of Directors..

I understand the needs of the organization and the support that is required from the board level to ensure the organization is operating at its full potential. Furthermore, having worked at Ontario Basketball I understand the way the organization operates, the closeness the staff have with one another and the flow of a typical OBA Season. I have also hosted OBA events, coached OBA-sanctioned basketball, as well convened many OBA tournaments.

After being an active member of the basketball and sport community for a very long time I have built a strong network of relationships and contacts that have helped me grow within the sport. I will bring a strong network relationships and contacts that can help the board in growing their reach. I have built a strong background in sport and can bring in depth knowledge of not only basketball, but the overall sport and recreation sector.

I also see that Ontario Basketball has made it a priority to have a more diverse Board of Directors, which I believe is very important. I would bring a unique take on a variety of topics while providing an opportunity to observe the landscape from a different lens.

Your motivation to join the OBA Board of Directors..

Basketball has always been my passion both when I was playing and now in my post-playing career. I’ve watched this sport grow tremendously over the years and I believe there is still a lot more growth that can be done. I see the direction that basketball is taking here in Ontario, and Canada in general, and I think it’s a great direction and path to be heading down. It’s something I want to be a part of. Helping build this sport further both on the men’s and women’s side is something that I’m still passionate about and providing the opportunities that weren’t around during my years (and then some) to the youth and upcoming youth of today is something I strive for. Simply put, I love this sport and I want to see and help it achieve great things.
