Position Summary:
We are excited to announce that the Mississauga Minor Basketball Association (MMBA) is currently recruiting for a Head Basketball Trainer responsible for developing and conducting skills training sessions for players at all levels. This position will initially report to the Director of the MMBA’s City League Hoops program. In addition, development and operation of rep-level training will be performed under the direction of one of our senior rep coaches.

Our ideal candidate is committed to leading a high-performance basketball training program. You bring at least 5 years of basketball coaching or training experience, preferably at the elite club level or post-secondary level. To be successful in this role you must have effective communication skills and proven organization, leadership and management skills.

Education & Experience Required:
• University degree or equivalent combination of education (preferably in a field related to athletics, recreation and/or management) and experience is required.
• Extensive and demonstrated success in high-performance coaching and/or training with progression to an elite level.
• Must show a strong commitment to the life goals (academic and otherwise) of the young student-athlete and be able to promote and support the club’s mission.
• Strong familiarity with club basketball processes and needs.
• Commitment to relationship building with stakeholders including players and parents, coaches, club administration, and community. A willingness to work with existing coaches to implement a coordinated approach to training.
• Exceptional interpersonal and team building skills.
• Proven organizational, management, and sport administration skills.
• Extensive experience in developing, facilitating, and evaluating a high-performance training program.
• Experience in negotiation, conflict management, and the promotion of cooperation is vital.
• Availability outside of traditional working hours is required; the majority of hours worked will be on weekday evenings and weekends.

Position Details:
• The majority (80%) of hours will be spent in the gym conducting skills training sessions for a variety of players enrolled in MMBA programs, from very young beginner players to advanced high-school players.
• The focus of training will evolve to reflect participation rates in all MMBA programs, so flexibility and willingness to train players of all levels and ages is a key requirement.
• One day each week will be spent in the MMBA office during traditional working hours working in partnership with our office administrator and various program directors.

$40,000-$55,000 annually with benefits (health and dental)
