U15 TEAM ONTARIO GIRLS WIN GOLD AT NATIONALS

Most Valuable Player - Kia Nurse First Team All-Star - Shay Colley First Team All-Star - Samantha Cooper August 7th at 6:00 p.m. - Ontario 72 vs. Quebec 50 Box Score In the 2010 championship match, Ontario faced Quebec on Saturday evening. With a massive crowd both teams got off to a slow start and kept pace with each other, Ontario leading by one at the end of the first quarter. Ontario took an eight point lead in the second quarter but Quebec closed the half strong and brought Ontario's lead to 26-24. Team Ontario came out blazing in the second half and created a huge gap to lead at the end of the third quarter, 56-38. The momentum stayed the same in the fourth quarter as Ontario went on to win the 15U National Basketball Championship, 72-50. Ontario's scoring leaders were Samantha Cooper with 22 points, Shay COlley with 16 points and Kia Nurse with 15 points. Cheyanne Roger grabbed 17 rebounds for Team Ontario. Audrey-Ann Caron-Goudreau was the high scorer for Quebec with 11 points, while also grabbing 10 rebounds. August 6th at 8:15 p.m. - Ontario 54 vs. Alberta 20 Box Score On Friday night, before a packed house on court two, Team Ontario played in their semi-finalgame against Alberta. The U15 Team Ontario girls got off to a quick start in first quarter and didn't look back in the first half, leading 34-9 at the end of the second quarter.Ontario kept the momentum going in the third quarter and increased their lead to 52-10. The fourth quarter saw Ontario play their bench, winning the game in convincing fashion with the final score 54-20. Team Ontario's leading scorer was Kia Nurse with 13 points while Katie Breault grabbed eight rebounds. Aimee Wilson scored six points for Alberta. The U15 TeamOntario girls will play Quebec for the gold medal at 6:00 p.m. on the main court. August 5th at 3:45 p.m. - Ontario 55 vs. Quebec 47 Box Score In a game to re-seed the top two teams, the U15 Team Ontario girls played against Quebec. Both teams got off to a quick start and kept the game close, going into the half with with Ontario up three points, leading 29-26. The game stayed within single digits throughout the second half but Ontario kept up the pace they established in the first half and won the game by eight. Team Ontario's Kia Nurse lead both teams with 20 points while Shay Colley scored 13 points and added 11 rebounds. Team Ontario will play in the semi-final on August 6th at 8:15 p.m.. August 4th at 3:45 p.m. - Ontario 67 vs. British Columbia 62 Box Score Team Ontario came out of the gates quick in their third game, against British Columbia. After the first quarter, Ontario was up by nine points and kept the momentum going into the half leading 40-24. Ontario kept their lead throughout the third quarter, ending with a 17-point lead. British Columbia fought back in the fourth quarter but lost the game by five points. Ontario’s Shaylisha Colley scored 22 points, while adding five rebounds, four assists and six steals. Anmol Mattu scored 26 points for British Columbia. August 3rd at 6:00 p.m. - Ontario 66 vs. Quebec 62 Box Score The final game of the night for the 15U division saw rivals Ontario and Quebec play to a packed Humber College gym. Ontario got out to a big lead at half, but a strong second half surge led by 18 points from Geraldine Cabillo-Abante and 17 points from Sarah St-Fort pulled Quebec within five points by the fourth quarter. However, Ontario did not let up and managed to hang on to the narrow four-point victory. Kia Nurse led all scorers with 23 points. August 3rd at 9:00 a.m. - Ontario 90 vs. Alberta 41 The U15 Team Ontario team faced off against Alberta in their first game of the championships. Ontario started the game strong and never looked back, winning the game handly. A strong effort was put in by the entire team. Due to technical difficulties the box score is not available.
