Clubs & Competitions

Ontario Basketball (OBA) affiliates approximately 175 clubs each year dedicated to providing clinics, house leagues, and competitive teams to individuals across the province. Any not-for-profit organization involved in the development and growth of amateur basketball can apply to become an affiliated member club of Ontario Basketball.

Within these member clubs, there are nearly 3,000 coaches and 16,000 athletes participating on 1,200 rep teams (male and female) in OBA sanctioned tournaments, leagues and the Ontario Cup Championships.

Ontario Basketball also aligns itself with the Canadian Sport For Life (CS4L) principles and the Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) to ensure proper programming for all of our stakeholders. By training our coaches, and creating a competitive structure for athletes at each stage of development that is appropriate for their development- technically, physically, mentally, socially and emotionally- Ontario Basketball strives to provide a positive atmosphere for youth to develop a love of basketball and equip them with the tools to be successful not only in basketball but sport in general.

OBA provides a competitive structure for the following age categories:

The club basketball season each year culminates with Ontario Cup Championships. This event, hosted by Ontario Basketball, allows all club teams the opportunity to compete in a provincial championship at their age category. With the help of local club hosts, OBA runs 18 championship tournaments, one for each age category and gender, spanning from March until June.
