Canada Basketball Junior Academy Tryout in August Announced

Canada Basketball announced their 2018–19 Junior Academy Ontario tryout for males in grades 7 and 8, which begins on Friday, August 31 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in Scarborough.

About Junior Academy

The Junior Academy program serves as the entry point into Canada Basketball’s Men’s High Performance Athlete Development Pathway. Through excellent coaching and programming, Junior Academy provides Grade 7 and 8 male students with an opportunity to train and develop in a high-performance environment. Over the course of eight centralized training weekends, athletes spend time away from home to develop their skills on the court as well as off the court with sessions that focus on social, emotional, and mental development.

Eligibility

Athletes must meet the following criteria:

  • Male born within January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2006
  • Hold a valid Canadian passport
  • Be a permanent resident of Ontario

Tryout Information

Date: Friday, August 31 to Sunday, September 2, 2018
Location: Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (Scarborough)
Time: Registration begins on Friday, August 31 at 5:30 p.m. Specific session times will be released one week prior to the start of camp, as they will be determined based on the number of registered athletes per age group. Additionally, athletes are not guaranteed to return each session, as selections will be made on a rolling basis.

Registration Information

Registration fee: $20 (must be paid in full upon arrival on Friday evening)

Registration includes a Canada Basketball shirt.

Athletes are responsible for their own gear, taping, and expenses to attend. There will be an athletic therapist on site.

Athletes must submit a completed Athlete Insurance Form [.pdf] at registration on Friday, August 31. Note: A parent/guardian signature is required in order for athletes to participate.
